We have long focused on elucidating the
molecular mechanisms underlying major human diseases from the perspectives of
protein homeostasis networks and intracellular signaling pathways. Neuropsychiatric developmental disorders (NDD), particularly autism spectrum disorder
(ASD) in children, interested us like no other,
as the afflicted individuals manifest
major common behavioral traits despite the enormous heterogeneity in the
underlying etiology. This has thus intrigued us to investigate the molecular
neurobiological basis of NDD.
Along the way, we have established a comprehensive array of disease models,
including patient-derived iPSCs (induced
pluripotent stem cells), brain organoids, rodent and non-human primate models. With these models, we have learned and
applied a set
of multiple advanced techniques such as ex vivo brain
slice electrophysiology, optogenetics, neuronal imaging, and in vivo
electrophysiological recording, integrated with spatial multi-omics analyses,
to systematically interrogate the mechanisms underlying NDDs at molecular, cellular, circuit,
and behavioral levels. Previous work from our group has demonstrated that
disruptions in retinoic acid signaling might contribute to distinct ASD
subtypes in children.
Founded by Zhejiang University and officially established in July 2020, Liangzhu Laboratory is an innovative initiative by Zhejiang Province to leverage Zhejiang University's multidisciplinary strengths, focusing on building a highland for life and health innovation, and supporting the "Healthy Zhejiang" and "Two Leadings" strategies. Over the past three years, Liangzhu Laboratory has attracted several world-class scientists, assembled high-level innovation teams led by academicians, totaling over 600 members, and formed a specialized management and service team.
Tianmu Laboratory, a high-level innovation platform co-founded by Xinchang County and Zhejiang University, focuses on animal pharmaceuticals and intelligent manufacturing. It aims to create a top-tier R&D platform in China. By integrating innovation, talent, industry, and funding chains, the lab fosters collaboration between projects, enterprises, government, and investors. Roadshows in biopharmaceuticals attract experts from Zhejiang University, advancing research translation in Xinchang and exploring new development areas aligned with local industry needs.
Zhejiang Provincial Second People's Hospital is dedicated to driving the upgrade and optimization of medical services through innovation. The hospital focuses on the development of smart healthcare, integrating advanced artificial intelligence technologies and big data analytics to enhance diagnostic efficiency and patient experience. By collaborating with top research institutions and technology companies, the hospital continuously advances precision medicine and personalized treatment, setting new standards for healthcare in Zhejiang Province and beyond.
